Just as the offseason kicked off in mid February, Durde was hired to become the Seattle Seahawks’ new defensive coordinator, becoming the first British coordinator in NFL history. Durde’s first exposure to the NFL came in 2005 when – as part of the NFL International Development Practice Squad program, an early predecessor to the IPP – he spent some time on the practice squad of the Carolina Panthers. He spent three seasons as part of the Falcons’ defensive coaching staff, working across a number of roles under head coach Dan Quinn. His permanent hiring in 2018 meant Durde became the first British full-time coach in NFL history. Under Durde’s stewardship, Dallas’ defensive line developed into one of the most feared in the league, in particular star linebacker Micah Parsons.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Baker Mayfield is staying with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after agreeing to a three-year contract worth up to $115 million, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Sunday. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the agreement, which includes $50 million guaranteed, had not been finalized. The Tampa Bay Times reported Mayfield will receive $30 million in 2024 and $30 million in 2025, with $20 million guaranteed in the second year of the deal. Mayfield agreed to terms two days after Tampa Bay finalized a two-year, $52 million contract with star receiver Mike Evans, who also passed up an opportunity to test his worth in free agency. The Bucs are also interested in extending the contract of left tackle Tristan Wirfs, who's due to earn a fifth-year option salary of $18.2 million next season.

Tepper cut back exposure to Advanced Micro Devices , Intel , Lam Research , Micron , Nvidia and Taiwan Semiconductor in the latest quarter, regulatory fillings show. LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Philadelphia Eagles will be the host team for the NFL's first regular-season game in Brazil on Friday, Sept. 6 — a day after the 2024 season opener, Commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday. Goodell made news when he said the Eagles will play in Sao Paolo against a to-be-named opponent. It’ll be the first time in 54 years the NFL has played a game on Friday night of its opening weekend. The game will be played at the Corinthians Arena, home to Brazilian soccer team SC Corinthians. The Eagles’ opponent, along with the kickoff time, will be announced closer to when the 2024 schedule is revealed this spring.

Herbert will be playing for his fourth head coach and possibly fourth offensive coordinator in five seasons. Harbaugh became a first-time head coach at the University of San Diego in 2004 and left after three seasons to start a four-year run at Stanford.

ATLANTA (AP) — With Bill Belichick set for a second interview, the Atlanta Falcons have talked with Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn about their vacant head coaching job. The Falcons announced Friday they had completed a virtual interview with Glenn, who has led the Lions' defense for the past three seasons. Glenn became the ninth candidate to interview with the Falcons, but all eyes were on Belichick amid reports that he was the team's top choice and had flown into Atlanta on one of owner Arthur Blank's private jets for a second interview. The Falcons confirmed they were meeting further with Belichick, but said no additional details would be provided until the follow-up interview was completed. For good measure, Belichick was a part of two more championship teams while working on the New York Giants' staff under Bill Parcells.
